In our continuous effort to enhance the educational experience and continuous improvement, Ponder ISD is excited to announce updates for the 2024-2025 academic year. After thorough deliberation with our dedicated staff and the District Improvement Team, comprising of valued community members, we have finalized the proposed academic calendar and are thrilled to share key changes that will take effect next year.
Staggered Start Times for Improved Traffic Flow
To address the current heavy traffic flow and anticipate future congestion, especially with the singular access point to our new high school, we are transitioning to staggered start times in 2024-2025 for our elementary and secondary campuses. This strategic shift aims to ease traffic and ensure a smoother commute for our students, staff, and community members.
Ponder Elementary Schools (Upper and Lower): 7:45 AM to 3:20 PM
Ponder High School and Ponder Junior High: 8:30 AM to 4:10 PM
School Relocations for Optimized Learning Environments
We're also making exciting moves in the 2024-2025 school year to better serve our students. These changes begin in August 2024:
Ponder High School will relocate to a new facility west of the current campus.
Ponder Junior High will move into the existing high school building.
The 4th and 5th grades at Ponder Elementary will transition to the former junior high building, temporarily named Upper Ponder Elementary School.
The existing Ponder Elementary will focus on Pre-K through 3rd grades and be temporarily known as the Lower Elementary School.
We are already making plans for 2024-2025 and thank our community for its support and input in shaping a bright future for Ponder ISD.
