Tony Ramsey

Assistant Principal

I have served in education for over 23 years. Originally from New Mexico, we moved to Texas in 1980. Prior to coming to Ponder, I also worked for Lake Worth, Northwest, Grapevine-Colleyville, Boyd, Lewisville, and Paradise ISD. I am so proud to be a part of Ponder High School. I have one child. I look forward to building relationships in Ponder with students, staff, parents, and the community.

Attendance Guidelines

Student Absences

  • If a student is absent any part of the school day or misses more than 10 minutes of any class period, he/she is considered absent.

  • If a student is absent any part of the school day, a note from the parent is required within 48 hours from the students return to school.

  • A phone call to the Office is not required for students who are absent. If a phone call is made to the Office for an absence, it does not excuse the absence, a note within 48 hours is still needed.

  • If a student is absent due to Professional Health Services or court, a note is recommended from their office.

  • If a student is at school any part of the day on the same day of a doctor's appointment and returns with a note from the doctor, this absence will be considered medical and not a regular absence.

  • For a student to be eligible to receive or renew a driver’s license, he/she must follow the Texas state law which requires the student to be present at least 90% of the days met in each class.

Tardies are accumulated on a nine week basis. Tardies are counted by each class period.

Consequences for tardies are as follows:

  • 1 tardy = warning

  • 2 tardies = warning

  • 3 tardies = teacher detentions

  • 4= zero hour

  • 5 = 2 zero hours

  • 6 = Saturday School

  • 7+ = ISS
